Why You Should Unplug More Often

Let’s face it.

Our world has already been dominated by technology. There’s social media like Facebook, which keeps us connected with our family and friends. There’s also job media like LinkedIn, which keeps us updated with our employers and clients. There are mobile games, which keep us entertained for hours; as well as video games, which keep us amused for weeks.

The only problem?

It now came to a point where most, if not all, of us can never imagine life without all these – eventually making us forget what’s truly important.

Here’s why you should unplug more often:

Unplugging helps us reconnect with ourselves.

Unplugging from technology, even for one day, already offers us a whole lot of benefits – not just when it comes to our physical health, but also with our mental health and emotional health. Simply put, it helps us reconnect with ourselves in ways that no Facebook wall can ever provide you. This includes getting you more active as you do various tasks in real life, getting you more productive as you think about positive things in real life, and getting you more compassionate as you feel what others feel in real life.

Unplugging helps us reconnect with nature.

It’s not enough for us to just pop in two ascorbic acid capsules per day in order to stay healthy, especially for those practicing a digital lifestyle. We need to be exposed outside, so we can get a dose of fresh air after being stuck inside the house all day. We also need to be exposed outside, so we can get a dose of natural vitamins after being stuck inside the office all day. No matter where you are most of the time, you need to be exposed outside – not just to get a dose of fresh air or get a dose of natural vitamins, but also for you to be more aware of your surroundings.
